Term used to describe the peculiar flavor of predominantly Labrusca grapes, grown in the eastern United States and Canada. This flavor is the result of an organic ester, methyl anthranilate and has nothing to do with foxes. It has been used to add a certain ‘grapey’ flavor to other consumer products but is not to everyone’s taste.
